New Moon in Sagittarius. 11.24.22
Happy Thanksgiving, beautiful souls!
I hope everyone gets some good, nourishing time with loved ones this week. I'm especially feeling gratitude for the magic and healing power of the body as I finally turn the corner after a lengthy bout of COVID that’s had me laying low for the past couple of weeks.
Here, with love (and a much better newsletter format, which it was time to move to now that these have become a regular thing!) — in lieu of a tarot spread — I am sharing a journaling exercise and ritual I was inspired to craft this week in honor of Jupiter as both ruler of this New Moon and in beautiful trine to it.
I hope you find this helpful, and as with all horoscopes, take what resonates and leave the rest!
xxx,
Rebecca
How do I work with a New Moon?
In astrology, New Moons are the time for setting intentions and visioning new beginnings for the upcoming six months. (By contrast, Full Moons are a time of culmination and harvest, of reaping the seeds/intentions sown at the New Moon.) So: the intentions we all set now are what we'll be reflecting back on when we get to the Full Moon in Sagittarius six months from now in May 2023. This makes New Moons a great check-in moment for long-term planning and conscious goal-setting.
What does it mean for the New Moon to be in Sagittarius?
Sagittarius is all about belief, hope, expansive optimism, buoyancy, and exploration among other things. And based on the rest of the astrology around this particular New Moon (including its being ruled by and in trine to Jupiter, which brings an extra boost of good fortune and abundance), this is a great time for dreaming big and setting big intentions around your hopes, dreams, and what you believe can be possible to create in your life -- with the full backing and support of your Higher Self.
Journaling exercise and ritual: Letter from your Higher Self
With Jupiter—which many astrologers, myself included, look to as symbolizing the Higher Self—both ruling and in gorgeous trine to this Sagittarius New Moon, I was inspired to write a letter from my Higher Self to make the most of this New Moon energy.
Here’s the journal prompt and simple ritual I used in case you feel called to see where it takes you as well.
Light a candle (it can be a tea candle, or whatever you’ve got at home) and find a comfortable seated position.
Close your eyes and take a few deep, cleansing breaths to ground and center.
Date the letter May 2023.
Write at the top of the page: Dear [name], Here’s what was possible in my life because I believed it was possible. . .
From there, let the words flow onto the page with minimal thought, effort, or editing and see where they take you.
When you feel complete, re-read what's on the page out loud.
Ask your guides for support in keeping your belief in what’s possible expansive and bringing your hopes into reality over the next 6 months.
Blow out the candle and keep the letter somewhere safe so you can return to it whenever you’re feeling low on hope or belief about what’s possible for you to create in your life.
