Eclipse season energy update. 10.1.24.
Hey there, fellow lightworkers.
I hope you’ve all been taking good care of yourselves, getting lots of rest (and managing to stay safe and dry) over the past couple of tumultuously watery weeks since the Pisces eclipse on September 17th.
In lieu of a formal slate of tarot/journal prompts, I’m reaching out with an energy update—including themes for journaling if you feel so called—ahead of tomorrow’s solar eclipse in Libra, which brings to a close the two-week portal that opened with September’s eclipse in Pisces.
Pisces eclipse in review. Ruled by watery Neptune—and part of an astrological alignment called a “kite” along with Pluto and Uranus—on a 3D level, the Pisces eclipse on September 17th ushered in a ton of sudden (Uranus), powerful and deadly (Pluto) water (Neptune/Pisces). Boosting the power of this energy combination, that eclipse took place at the north node of the Moon, which functions like a power surge. In the U.S., this energy combo has brought weeks of nonstop rain and disastrous flooding in some regions, spurred by deadly Hurricane Helene.
Meanwhile, on a spiritual/metaphysical level: it’s been giving us a preview of the Pisces/Virgo eclipse story we’ll all be living out between now and early 2027. In energy terms, I like to think of the Pisces-Virgo polarity as a funnel wherein our human selves serve as portals for divine energies. Or, put differently, surrendering ego control of our lower selves so we can show up as vehicles for spirit.
Much remains to be seen about what the Pisces/Virgo eclipse story will bring over the next few years, but I read it as inviting us to reach for our future stream and to level up when it comes to walking the mystical path (Pisces) with earthly feet (Virgo). . . grounding our spiritual selves and integrating our intuitive gifts into our day-to-day lives and work. . . and aligning our work and service in the world with our higher calling as lightworkers. (Here are the dates in the rest of this Pisces/Virgo eclipse series: March 13, 2025; September 7, 2025; September 21, 2025; March 3, 2026; August 28, 2026; February 20, 2027).

Enter this week’s Libra eclipse. The Libra eclipse happening tomorrow at 2:49pm ET comes amidst a Mercury cazimi (aka Mercury meeting up with the Sun)—-plus what astrologers call a “grand trine” between Venus, Mars, and Saturn. Governed by Venus, Libra rules relationships, and particularly loves equality in relationships. Meanwhile, Mercury rules communication—and its cazimis often bring ahas, breakthroughs, and realizations.
Putting the energies together: for some of us, this eclipse may bring messages—possibly delivered through conflict, awkward conversations, or things going sideways (Mars)—around how we communicate (Mercury) in relationships (Libra). Our relationship to time (Saturn), and how it plays into what we (intentionally or unintentionally) communicate to the people in our lives, may show up as a related theme. Our boundaries (also a Saturnian theme) in relationships, and how we communicate about them may too. (These themes are all showing up in big ways for me right now.) What habits or patterns or relationships related to these themes are being spotlighted now because they are no longer in alignment? What are we getting the message it’s time to let go of?
Meanwhile, on the pop culture-meets-politics front, I can’t help but see this astrology’s fingerprints on the release of a very cool new Hulu documentary (Mercury) spotlighting how outdated policies that it’s been time to get rid of relating to U.S. disability benefits block (Saturn) marriage (Venus/Libra) for disabled people. (I’m biased because of the law/policy work I do, but it’s worth checking out.)

Reflecting back to April 2023. Zooming out, the solar eclipse in Libra happening tomorrow doesn’t just bring the fall eclipse portal to a close; it’s also the next-to-last chapter in the series of Aries/Libra eclipses that’s been taking place since spring 2023.
Some of the themes we’ve been invited to work through during the Aries/Libra eclipse series: integrating the polarity that is self (Aries) and other (Libra). Transcending “I” consciousness to be able to think as a “We.” Learning to show up as our authentic selves/to meet our own needs/and to set boundaries in relationships. Letting go of people-pleasing and codependency tendencies. Learning to say no so we can say yes to ourselves. Letting go of the relationships that are no longer in alignment for us (vs. staying in them for the sake of being in a relationship). This week’s eclipse is a great opportunity to reflect on our growth since spring 2023 along these lines—-as well as the work we still have to do. (Previous dates in the Aries/Libra series were April 20, 2023; October 14, 2023; and April 8, 2024; and the final chapter will take place on March 29, 2025.)
For a little more on how to work with the energy of this week’s Libra eclipse in particular: it’s a solar eclipse, which is like a New Moon (i.e. the time to set intentions). And with the eclipse taking place at the Moon’s south node (an energy combo that’s like the best kind of black hole—one that helps us to release that which no longer serves our highest and best good). . . if any of the messages or ahas we get around this eclipse point to habits or patterns or relationships relating to the above themes that we’re ready to release and/or which feel out of alignment, this is a great moment to set the intention to release them into the black hole of the eclipse, with powerful energy support from the universe.

With all that as potential fodder for reflection, meditation, journaling, pulling cards, or wherever you feel called to go with it. . . I’ll leave you with some general eclipse reminders.
Always good practice during eclipse season, but especially with the Pisces eclipse energy we’ve been swimming in. . . to the extent that you can, remember to GROUND, GROUND, GROUND, get lots of rest, eat nourishing foods, try not to over-schedule yourself, listen to your body, and b r e a t h e through whatever change this eclipse portal brings.
Eclipses often bring endings and beginnings. Sometimes quite suddenly. Change energy is in the air. Sometimes it’s hard to see or understand in the moment how an ending is for our highest and best good. But often they are needed to pave the way for new beginnings which can’t yet see.
Eclipses aren’t times for manifestation but rather for surrender and allowing higher energies to move through you (and to move you if that’s what’s called for). And if the change/endings/beginnings aren’t showing up for you personally (we’ll all be impacted in different ways depending on how it’s affecting our respective charts)—they may be showing up for others in your life.
Sending everyone big love as we round out this fall’s eclipse portal—and as with all horoscopes, take what resonates and leave the rest.
XOXO,
Rebecca
