Full Moon in Virgo. 2.24.25.
Happy Full Moon in Virgo, friends.
I hope you’re all taking care good care of yourselves and getting in some rest and self-care in around this week’s Full Moon—and, as we’ll get into, getting in a little downtime from work 🌝
This morning, at 7:30am ET, we marked a Full Moon at 5 degrees of Virgo. Folks across various parts of my life (and even the front desk attendants at the hotel I’m writing this edition of Practical Woo from) have all been coming out of the woodwork over the past couple of days saying they’re feeling the energy of this Full Moon . . . so if you’re feeling tired, overworked, a little anxy, pulled into mental spiraling, and possibly extra self-critical/self-doubting—you’re far from alone.
With all that said, let’s get into this Full Moon in Virgo and how to work with the energy at its highest vibration.
Virgo energy is associated with work, service, health, and healing. And not just work, but working really hard. Virgo thrives on organizing, analyzing, critiquing, and editing, and can pretty much always be counted on to find a way to improve whatever it’s dealing with. Physically, Virgo rules the intestines. It’s associated with the archetypes of The Craftsman, The Healer, The Divine Servant, The Perfectionist, The Workaholic, and The Martyr, among others. ♍️
Virgo’s shadow: The lower vibration/unconscious expression of Virgo is perfectionism. Judgment of self and others. Being overly critical. Seeing the glass half-full. Hypochondria. Anxiety. Overthinking things. Getting lost in the details. Getting stuck in your head. The mental tape that gets stuck on loop with everything you could have done better today or all the ways you’re not good enough.
In its shadow expression, Virgo energy can also be prone to martyrdom—working or serving others in ways that are out of alignment with being in service to (and caring for) yourself. Along similar lines, it can be prone to workaholism. Getting weighed down with work (think: 8 of Wands in tarot). And for those of us who live life through our stomachs (myself included), an imbalance or shadow expression of Virgo energy can show up in our physical bodies as an upset gut.
Virgo’s highest potential: By contrast, working with the higher vibration potential of Virgo energy is living into divine service. Being hardworking in a way that enables you to achieve divinely aligned goals. Being organized in a way that enables you to be super-efficient.
Traditionally ruled by Mercury, one way Virgo shows up is as Mercury’s mental energy turned inward. At low vibrations, this can spell anxiety or mental spiraling—but put to use at its highest vibration, this is being in your head in the best way: meditation. Disidentifying with our minds and thoughts and witnessing their contents through introspection.
Meanwhile, with Virgo’s esoteric ruler being Chiron (the wounded healer)—at high vibrations, Virgo is also associated with healing, including self-healing, as well as serving as a healer for others. Holistic forms of healing. Tarot. Astrology. Healing that comes through mind-body-spirit connection. Healing that comes through using our minds as a tool—including to witness, interrupt, and transmute recurring thought patterns. ♍️
Putting all these energies together, I read this particular Full Moon as an invitation to review and reflect on:
Our last 6 months of progress—and what’s coming to fruition now that we seeded 6 months ago—when it comes to health, healing, and our growth as healers of ourselves and others;
Our work habits, work routines, our approach to and attitudes towards work, how we work, and any shadow tendencies we have towards getting lost in our work, workaholism, or being martyrs to our work;
Any shadow tendencies we have towards self-criticism, judgment of self and others, getting stuck in mental loops, and perfectionism that we’re being invited to witness, transmute, and/or heal; and
Any messages we’re getting now about the ways in which we are being called to serve (including through our work roles and as healers).
Without further ado, I’m sending you all good wishes and many blessings in this Full Moon week, and I’ll send you on your way to scroll on down for the journal prompts/6-card tarot spread I crafted to work with the Full Moon in Virgo energy at its highest vibration. Remember, as with all horoscopes, to take what resonates and leave the rest. ❤️
XOXO,
Rebecca
How do I work with a Full Moon?
For folks newer to my Practical Woo energy updates: Full Moons as a time for reflecting on and marking your growth in a particular area of life during the past six months. Just as New Moons are the time to set intentions, Full Moons are the time of harvest when we reap the seeds/intentions sown at the last New Moon in that zodiac sign.
This makes Full Moons a great check-in moment for pausing, getting still, and assessing how far we've come (and how much further we might still have to go) in a particular area of life and/or how we’re working with a particular type of energy. So: the intentions we set back in September 2023 at the New Moon in Virgo are what we're reflecting back on with this Full Moon.
In addition: I also find it rich to work with Full Moons as an opportunity to explore and witness how we’re expressing the energy of the sign that's up for review. Where shadow comes up to be witnessed, we then have the invitation to be present to it, transmute it, and express the energy at a higher octave (and with greater consciousness). (This is part of why I call my practice Alchemy of the Zodiac.)
And with Chiron co-ruling this Virgo Full Moon, a super-charged portal for healing whatever shadow comes up is open now as well.
*Cheat sheet: Here’s what I wrote back when we were setting intentions back at the New Moon in Virgo in September 2023—take a look back at the prompts if you need a refresher on the seeds you were planting 6 months ago, which is what Luna in her fullness this week is encouraging us to reflect back on now.
*Pro-tip: It can be really handy to designate a journal or notepad for tracking your intentions and reflections with New and Full Moons, so they don’t get lost/make you spend lots of time looking for them amidst other journal entries.
Full Moon in Virgo journal prompts. ♍️❤️🔥📝
Here are the journal prompts/6-card tarot spread I crafted to work with this week’s Full Moon in Virgo energy at its highest vibration. (Why 6 cards? Virgo’s the 6th sign of the zodiac and is associated with the 6th house in astrology). Feel free to follow your intuition and work with only the ones that resonate and leave the rest.
What progress have I made since Sept. 2023 when it comes to my work routines, and how I work—to create the conditions for me to stay in flow vs. being “too busy” to ground, center, and check in with my High Self?
How have my meditation/mindfulness practices grown and expanded over the past 6 months? How does this connect to my current state of health and any healing I’ve been doing during that period?
How have I grown and developed as a healer over the past 6 months? What’s coming to fruition now that I was seeding 6 months ago when it comes to how I serve my own and/or others’ healing?
What progress have I made when it comes to moving beyond toxic perfectionism, how my inner critic talks to me, and self-limiting thought patterns that say I’m never good enough?
What is coming up for witnessing and healing now when it comes to remaining self-critical thought patterns or limiting beliefs?
What messages am I getting now around how I’m being called to serve the collective/through which types of work and roles?
Virgo affirmations ♍️📣🧘♀️
If you’re someone who likes working with affirmations or mantras, here are a few to consider around this Virgo Full Moon (or for working to heal, balance, and transmute Virgo energy to higher vibrations anytime). As with all else, take only what resonates and leave the rest.
I have a mind but I am not my mind. I have thoughts but I am not my thoughts. I am the consciousness that observes my mind and thoughts.
I am not my work. I am not my work roles. My work is a channel for divine service.
I am a channel for divine healing.
I trust and listen to my gut.
I am worthy of unconditional love.
I anchor my center of consciousness in my heart chakra.
