New Moon in Aquarius x Lunar New Year. 1.21.23.
Happy New Moon in Aquarius, beautiful souls!
And happy Lunar New Year, too. <3
This weekend brings a super-charged New Moon, with the New Moon in Aquarius also marking the Lunar New Year—the first New Moon of the year, and the start of a new year for communities and cultures that live by the lunar calendar.
With Uranus ruling this New Moon, this moment is resonating deeply for me as an invitation to embrace our uniqueness. And with the New Moon just a few degrees from an exact conjunction with Pluto, the message I’m hearing loud and clear is to own our transformative power by embracing what makes us different (what some call “individuation”) vs. hiding our differences to fit in with the crowd.
These themes resonate deeply for me right now on a personal level, as someone who’s only recently come out of the “broom closet” in my public and professional life, after years of keeping my woo side secret—and, speaking from my own experience in this journey, embracing what makes me different (dare I say, learning to love my inner weirdo? <3) has been a journey not only of individuation but of awakening to my inner magic and the power it holds.
As humans subject to enormous social conditioning and driven by deep-seated fear of being rejected by the herd, we can spend enormous energy “masking” our true selves in order to fit in, look and sound like everyone else, and keep from standing out from the crowd. Releasing energetic repression of the parts of ourselves we’ve kept hidden from view, for fear of being perceived as different, can feel like an enormous sigh of relief—a beautiful exhale that enables us to embrace our shadow side and share our unique, magical gifts with the world, instead of spending our energy reserves keeping our inner magic bottled up for fear of not fitting in.
In that spirit, I’m feeling called to work with this New Moon in Aquarius as a powerful time to set intentions around owning the power that lies in what makes us different—and how we want to channel our inner creative genius to share our unique gifts with the collective in the chapter ahead.
So, here with love, I’m sharing the 6-card tarot spread (which can also work as journal prompts) that I was inspired to craft this week to work with the New Moon in Aquarius energy at its highest vibration, to set intentions for the next 6 months (and with ripple effects to come throughout the whole Lunar New Year).
I hope you find this helpful, and as with all horoscopes, take what resonates and leave the rest!
XOXO,
Rebecca
How do I work with a New Moon?
In astrology, New Moons are the time for setting intentions and visioning new beginnings for the upcoming six months. (By contrast, Full Moons are a time of culmination and harvest, of reaping the seeds/intentions sown at the New Moon.) So: the intentions we all set now are what we'll be reflecting back on when we get to the Full Moon in Aquarius six months from now in June 2023. This makes New Moons a great check-in moment for long-term planning and conscious goal-setting. (And with the Lunar New Year happening in tandem, this is a super-charged window for intention-setting).

Here are the prompts for the 6-card tarot spread I crafted to work with the highest vibrations of this weekend’s New Moon in Aquarius x Lunar New Year energy in case you feel called to see where they take you as well. (As always, feel free to use any/all of them as journal or meditation prompts and skip the cards.)
What about me makes me different and unique and eccentric in the best way?
How am I ready to love and embrace my differences/eccentricities as a source of power and magic?
What would it look like for me to view and embrace my differences/eccentricities as gifts that I’m here to share?
How am I ready to share my unique gifts with the collective in this next 6-month chapter?
How am I ready to be a social disruptor/innovator by owning the power of my authentic, weirdo self?
What transformative change do I want to bring to my communities over the next 6 months?
