Happy Full Moon in Cancer, y’all!

I hope you’re all taking care good care of yourselves and getting in some rest and self-care in around last night’s Full Moon (and merry Christmas to any of you who celebrate!). 🌝

Last night at 7:33pm ET, we marked a Full Moon at nearly 5 degrees of Cancer. Yesterday/today also brought some other potentially emotionally charged astrology, as Chiron, the wounded healer, stationed direct (read; started moving forwards again) after spending the past 6 months retrograde.

But enough astrology-speak. Let’s get into this Full Moon in Cancer, what it means for it to be infused with a big dose of Chirotic energy, and how to work with it all.

The sign of the Crab, Cancer is connected with emotions, with care and caregiving (of others as well as oneself), as well as intuition. Physically it rules the stomach. It’s linked with the archetypes of The Mother, The Nurturer, and the Intuitive. Because Cancer is ruled by the Moon, while all Full Moons can be emotionally heightened periods that have us feeling all the feels, Cancer Full Moons can be even more so.

Cancer’s shadow: The lower vibration/unconscious expression of Cancer is moodiness. Over-sensitivity. Identifying with, being run by, and swept away by the never-ending tides of our emotions. Going into our shell and/or putting up a hard exterior to avoid feeling pain.

Cancer’s higher potential: By contrast, the higher vibration potential of Cancer energy is turning our ability to feel into a superpower. Learning to listen to, follow, and live by our intuition (no surprise that with Cancer ruling the stomach, we often call this “gut instinct”). Taking advantage of the veil being thin to feel into, witness, and learn from our emotions vs. identifying with and thus being run by them.

Affirmation: I have emotions, but I am not my emotions.

How to work with this Full Moon: As with all Full Moons, this one offers a rich opportunity for reflection on our growth over the past 6 months. And with Chiron—which rules not just our wounds but also healing—stationing direct nearly at the same time as the Full Moon, I read this Full Moon as an invitation to review and reflect on our growth when it comes to: our capacity for self-care; tuning into + living by our intuition (as a critical form of self-care); and what we’ve been learning and how we’ve been growing and developing as healers and nurturers of ourselves and others.

A quick P.S. on Chiron: Adding to the all-the-feels energy of the Cancer Full Moon, I mentioned this week’s astrology also features some action by Chiron. Chiron transits can kick up heavy emotions. They sometimes coincide with painful events and/or triggers of wounds we try to keep buried and/or can sometimes be triggers for illness). If this resonates as any of what’s coming up for you this week, note that one of Chiron’s core teachings is that pain is a portal. That when we allow ourselves to be with and witness painful emotions, we become our own healers—and their energy turns into fuel for consciousness. To that end, try to see any difficult or painful emotions that arise now as teachers—and as an inventory of shadow wounds coming up for attention for our next chapter of healing.

Now, without further ado, I’m sending you all good wishes and many blessings in this Full Moon week, and I’ll send you on your way to scroll on down for the 6-card tarot spread/journal prompts I crafted to work with the Full Moon in Cancer energy at its highest vibration. Remember, as with all horoscopes, to take what resonates and leave the rest.

XOXO,

Rebecca

Full Moon in Cancer tarot spread. ♋️🦀❤️‍🔥

Here are the prompts for the 6-card tarot spread I crafted to work with this week’s Full Moon in Cancer energy at its highest vibration. As always, feel free to use any/all of these as journal prompts and to skip the cards.

  1. What growth is on display now (compared with Me of 6 months ago) when it comes to my capacity for self-care?

  2. How have I been growing when it comes to taking charge of my own health and healing? How have I been learning to show up as my own healer?

  3. What is being spotlighted now about any tendencies I have towards over-sensitivity, being identified with my emotions, (and the practices that help get me back to being present and grounded)?

  4. How are my gifts as a healer/nurturer/caregiver on display now? How have I grown in these roles over the past 6 months?

  5. What have I been learning about self-care as a pre-requisite to being able to show up as a carer for/healer of others? (Ditto to being my best in the realm of work/career?)

  6. How am I doing when it comes to listening to and living by my intuition/gut wisdom? What have I been learning about how living by my intuition is a form of self-care?

Much love to you all in this Full Moon in Cancer week, and feel free to holler with any questions this sparks for you!
